Job summary

City-of-Pelha in Pelham, AL seeks a Water Meter Reader to service residential and commercial customers by reading meters and recording usage on a designated route.

You will walk or drive to take meter readings, inspect meters for issues, verify readings, and document fluctuations. A valid Alabama driver's license, outdoor work, and strong teamwork are essential.

Job description

Reads water consumption meters and records volume used by residential and commercial customers.

• Walks or drives truck over established route and takes readings of meter dials.
• Inspects meters and connections for defects, damage, and unauthorized connections.
• Identifies irregularities on forms for necessary action by servicing department.
• Verifies readings to locate abnormal consumption and records reasons for fluctuations.
• Turns service off for nonpayment of charges in vacant premises, or turns on service for new oc-cupants.
• Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with others.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
