The City of Fort Smith is seeking a Meter Reader to ensure accurate reading and recording of water consumption for utility customers. Under the guidance of the Metering Supervisor, you will collect readings on assigned routes and document them for billing.
Responsibilities include coding meters in need of repair, completing MSOs daily, answering customer questions, maintaining the vehicle, and upholding regular attendance.
The incumbent under the guidance of the Metering Supervisor is responsible for accurate reading and recording of water consumption of utility customers. Work includes keeping of such records according to established forms so that billing can be made properly.

The incumbent should possess knowledge of the use of tools and equipment in the department.The incumbent must have good verbal and written communications skills as well as good organizational skills. Problem solving and analytical ability are required to perform the duties of this position. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also required. Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
