Job summary

Avangrid is seeking a Meter Services helper in Adams, MA to assist with testing, refurbishing and certification of gas meters and regulation used for natural gas distribution. This position involves meter shop duties, meter reading and related tasks under supervision.

You will handle in-test and out-test of meters for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, operate shop equipment, perform meter deliveries, and enter data in SAP.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• DOT certification, forklift certification and OQ requirements must be attainable.
• Experience with handheld/power tools and safe operation is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide departmental support for Meter Services performing in-test and out-test of gas meters for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
• Operate and maintain shop equipment including pallet trucks, forklift, paint spray booth, washing machine and meter proving apparatuses.
• Perform meter deliveries to local operation centers using heavy-duty trucks (>10,000 pounds).
• Provide backup support for meter reading and routing duties as needed.
• Enter data in SAP and maintain accurate records.

JOB SUMMARY

Under supervision of qualified personnel, perform or assist with work related to the testing, refurbishing and certification of gas meters and regulation used for the regulating and measurement of the distribution of natural gas to the end user. Provide support for other meter shop duties, meter reading and other work as assigned.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide departmental support for Meter Services performing in-test and out-test of gas meters for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
• Use of shop equipment including but not limited to: pallet trucks, forklift, paint spray booth, industrial washing machine, meter proving apparatuses etc.
• Perform meter deliveries to outlying operation centers using rack body truck >10,000 pounds.
• Provide back up support for meter reading, requires driving meter routes.
• Data entry required within SAP

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience/Training Required: High school diploma or equivalent GED.

Valid Driver's License

Clean driving record

Must be able to secure DOT Certification

Must be able to secure certification for Forklift Operation

Must be able to attain and maintain OQ requirements for this role.

• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the analytical ability to evaluate complex data and apply good judgment to take appropriate follow up actions as needed while working without close supervision.
• Strong PC skills are required along with proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel and Word applications and the ability to learn associated departmental business software.
• Must possess superior arithmetic skills and ability to use a calculator.
• Must have good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruption.
• Must be proficient with the use of handheld tools and power tools in a safe manner. Must be highly productive and results oriented.
