KSLA News 12 in Shreveport is seeking an enthusiastic meteorologist to join Shreveport's market-leading First Alert Weather team. This position covers midday newscasts and our digital streaming desk, delivering clear forecasts and severe weather coverage across on-air, online, and mobile platforms.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or related field and has at least 2 years of TV forecasting experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze weather data and prepare accurate forecasts for midday newscasts and the digital desk.
• Use weather graphics systems to support forecasts and weather segments.
• Cover severe and breaking weather across all platforms (on-air, online, mobile).
• Develop and post weather content to station website and social media.
• Collaborate with Chief Meteorologist, news managers, and producers to plan coverage.
• Create engaging weather content for TikTok, Instagram, and other social channels.
• Maintain accuracy and clarity in weather presentations and reporting.

Job Summary/Description:

KSLA News 12 is searching for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and engaging meteorologist to join Shreveport's market-leading First Alert Weather team. This position is for our midday newscasts and our digital streaming desk. The Meteorologist will work closely with the Chief Meteorologist, news managers, and producers to provide comprehensive daily weather forecasts and severe weather coverage on all of our platforms.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze weather data and prepare accurate, informative forecasts focused on the First Alert and Next Weather Maker
• Use WSI graphic systems to create content supporting the forecast and prepare for a variety of presentations
• Cover severe and breaking weather situations across all platforms
• Develop and post unique weather content to station website, social media accounts, and apps
• Flexibility in scheduling to cover severe weather or fill in for other weather team members
• Responsible for creating original/creative content for our digital platforms daily
• Responsible for creating engaging weather content on our TikTok, Instagram, and other social media accounts.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or related field required
• At least 2 years of television experience preferred
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment and interact with all personnel within the organization and the audience
