Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Lackawanna County, Archbald, PA is seeking skilled metal fabrication personnel capable of layout, measurement, and machine operation for sheet metal parts. The role involves reading CAD data, interpreting blueprints, and performing both manual and CNC fabrication tasks.

You will work with brake presses, punch presses, lasers, and finishing equipment, with a focus on precision, safety, and teamwork in a demanding production environment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic shop math (metric conversion and arithmetic).
  • Must understand the cutting properties of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances and inspect parts using required precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers and protractors to ensure they meet blueprint specifications.
  • Proficient using hand tools for deburring and metal finishing.
  • Program, set up and operate conventional and CNC brake press for fabrication of precision formed component.
  • Set up and operate conventional brake press, shear, band saw, sanders, deburring/buffing machinery.
  • Knows the difference between hot and cold rolled steels, aluminum and stainless steel and makes adjustments accordingly.
  • Operate fabricating sheet metal equipment such as brake presses, shear, band saw, sanders, deburring/ buffing machinery.
  • Able to support a flexible work schedule including alternate shifts, overtime, off-Fridays and/or weekends to support product schedules as required.
  • Ability to work well with others and cross shift with others on the same work.
  • Proficient using hand tools for burr removal and metal finishing.
  • Ability to use various types of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and thickness measuring equipment.
  • Can read and understand complex blueprints and sketches with respect to various assembly and metals forming and differentiation between thread sizes, pitch, metric and standard threads

Job Description

Lays out work, establishing necessary reference points, center lines and guide lines, make necessary allowance for bends, machining, measures with scale, calipers and micrometers and uses scribers, center punch, surface gage, dividers, etc. to mark material

Performs necessary hand operations, such as filing, scraping, straightening, mechanical assembly etc.

Programs, sets up and operates numerical control equipment, bending rolls and machines, power and hand shears, Do-All saws, brakes, nibblers, punch press, turret punch press, drill presses, radial drills, etc. and various hand grinders to shape and alter sheet metal according to specifications

Uses various types of hand tools, such as files, hammers, scrapers, wrenches, etc. and various measuring instruments such as plug gages, snap gages, indicators, verniers, micrometers, depth gages, etc.

Interprets CAD data, prints and sketches and can follow written manufacturing instructions (MI's) and/or verbal instructions

Performs minor preventive maintenance to equipment

Reports equipment problems to supervisor

Works in time-critical situations in a dynamic, team-oriented environment where programs, setups, and tooling are constantly changing and interact effectively with associates & management as priorities shift.

Performs Other Job-related Duties As Required By Management

Maintains workstation/cell in organized manner and in compliance with any applicable safety standards

Receives and, when assigned, provides cross-training for other tasks related to department functions and procedures.

Physical condition allowing: a. Lifting 50 pounds b. Standing, sitting, bending, walking, 10+ hours per day c. Personal protective equipment including Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and wearing a respirator when required

Adheres to safety guidelines and the correct procedures for performing tasks to prevent personal injury or damage to product and/or equipment

Pay Information

Pay rate for this position is $28.73 - $28.73 per hour.
