Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an early to mid‑career Equipment Engineer to own Metal Thin Film Deposition tools (ALD/CVD) and perform ongoing maintenance in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

The role involves troubleshooting, data-driven decision making, and driving containment and rapid resolution of fab events, with emphasis on disciplined problem solving and clear communication. Prior experience with ASM/TEL/AMAT/LAM platforms is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required.
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing environment, preferably high-volume semiconductor.
  • Experience analyzing machine sensor data (pressures, temperatures, flows).
  • Baseline semiconductor knowledge required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment by monitoring signals (pressure, voltage, gas flow, metrology).
  • Lead improvement projects to prevent recurring tool failures.
  • Draw conclusions from statistical analyses and report tool events with graphs.
  • Generate 8D reports showing root causes, corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Create/update SOPs to standardize workflows and improve methods.

Position Summary

The Metals team at Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an early to mid-career level Equipment Engineer with experience in tool maintenance, hands‑on equipment troubleshooting and equipment sensor analysis. The individual will be responsible for equipment ownership of a Metal Thin Film Deposition (ALD or CVD) toolset and will be responsible for ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting in a high volume manufacturing environment. Ideally this person will have experience with ASM, TEL, AMAT or LAM platforms.

Role and Responsibilities

  • CreateandupdateSOPstostandardizeprocessflowsandimproveworkingmethodsusingcrispandclearcommunicationskills.

  • Aminimumof2yearspracticalexperienceinamanufacturingenvironment.Previousexperienceinahigh-volumesemiconductormanufacturingenvironmentdesired.Applicablemanufacturingexperienceinotherindustriescanbeconsidered.

  • Strongtroubleshootingandproblemsolvingcapabilities.

  • Experienceanalyzingmachinesensordata(Pressures,Temperatures,Flowsetc.)andusingthatdatatobothmonitorequipmenthealthandmakedata-drivendecisions.

  • Previousexperienceinaprofessionalsemiconductormanufacturingenvironmentisdesired.Otherindustryexperiencewillbeaccepted,butcandidatemustdemonstratebaseline(i.e.conversational)knowledgeofsemiconductors.

The current base salary range for this role is between $95,000 - $120,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
