Position Summary

The Metals team at Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an early to mid-career level Equipment Engineer with experience in tool maintenance, hands‑on equipment troubleshooting and equipment sensor analysis. The individual will be responsible for equipment ownership of a Metal Thin Film Deposition (ALD or CVD) toolset and will be responsible for ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting in a high volume manufacturing environment. Ideally this person will have experience with ASM, TEL, AMAT or LAM platforms.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Equipment troubleshooting -- taking equipment signal inputs like pressure, voltage, gas flow, and metrology information, and identifying tool failures
  • Improvement Projects -- identify recurring problems on the tool fleet, and implement preventative projects.
  • Must be able to draw conclusions from statistical analysis as well as report tool events with appropriate graphical representations.
  • Respond to critical fab events that require containment speed and quick resolution to ensure minimal impact to product. Generate reports (such as 8D) illustrating root cause of incidents, corrective actions and future preventative measures.
  • Create and update SOPs to standardize process flows and improve working methods using crisp and clear communication skills.
  • The desired candidate will show a high degree of dedication to meeting deadlines while producing quality results.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing business needs and demonstrate flexibility to change priorities as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
  • The applicant must possess a 4-year degree in Chemical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Materials Science and Engineering
  • A minimum of 2 years practical experience in a manufacturing environment. Previous experience in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment desired. Applicable manufacturing experience in other industries can be considered.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving capabilities.
  • Experience analyzing machine sensor data (Pressures, Temperatures, Flows etc.) and using that data to both monitor equipment health and make data-driven decisions.
  • Previous experience in a professional semiconductor manufacturing environment is desired. Other industry experience will be accepted, but candidate must demonstrate baseline (i.e., conversational) knowledge of semiconductors.
