Job summary

Texas A&M University–Kingsville is seeking a Workforce Instructor for the METAL initiative to deliver hands-on instruction in metallurgy and related manufacturing technologies while leading K-12 outreach and career awareness activities.

The role collaborates with industry, school districts, and university faculty to expand manufacturing pathways, requires a relevant associate degree and experience in technical instruction, and offers a grant-funded, mission-driven environment in South Texas.

Qualifications

  • Experience providing technical instruction or workforce training.
  • Three (3) years of experience or applied learning in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing, metallurgy, or related fields.
  • Valid Texas Driver License.

Responsibilities

  • Lead instructor for METAL Level 1 manufacturing bootcamps.
  • Deliver classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in metallurgy, casting, forging, materials science, and related manufacturing technologies.
  • Demonstrate safe operation of casting equipment, furnaces, molds, hand tools, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Evaluate participant performance through practical skills demonstrations and assessments.
  • Provide individualized coaching and academic support to maximize participant success.
  • Maintain student attendance, credential attainment, assessment records, and instructional documentation.
  • Prepare laboratories and instructional areas for bootcamp delivery.
  • Coordinate instructional schedules, laboratory usage, equipment needs, and participant communications.
  • Assist with participant recruitment and program promotion.
  • Support implementation of grant-funded manufacturing initiatives and outreach activities.
