Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking an entry-level metallurgical assistant at the Round Mountain mine in Nevada. Under the direction of the Metallurgy Supervisor, you will learn metallurgy project tasks and align daily work with Kinross values.

Responsibilities include adhering to safety and environmental policies, supporting the team, and developing skills in milling and processing operations. A strong work ethic and good communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Minimum of 2 years towards metallurgy or related Bachelor’s degree.
• 0-2 years metallurgy experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Metallurgy Supervisor, this person will learn entry-level metallurgy project tasks while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.

Essential Functions

Qualifications And Skill Requirements

• Responsible to manage the RMGC Environmental Health and Safety Management system in his/her areas of responsibility.


• Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.


• General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.


• Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.


• Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.


• Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.


• Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills


• Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.


• Requires valid driver’s license.


• Minimum of 2 years towards metallurgy or related Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 year metallurgy experience.


• Strong communication skills.


• Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.


• Hard working Team Player.


• Multilingual skills a plus.
