Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation’s Round Mountain site in Nevada seeks an Environmental Technician to support sampling, monitoring, inspections, and data management in line with company requirements and regulatory standards.

Under the Environmental Superintendent, you will help ensure safe, compliant operations, train others, and uphold Kinross values through environmental health and safety practices across the site.

Qualifications

• 2+ years toward environmental or related Bachelor's degree
• 0-2 years environmental experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient PC skills: Word, Excel, databases, PowerPoint
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be 18 years or older and authorized to work in the US; valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Communicate with site personnel to maximize information exchange and environmental compliance.
• Conduct sampling and monitoring with data entry and reporting per company and regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct policies.
• Assist in developing other department personnel to perform duties.
• Maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company's portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Summary

Under the direction of an Environmental Superintendent, ensures that sampling, monitoring, inspections, and data management are conducted in accordance with company requirements and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.

Essential Functions

• Effectively communicate with site personnel to maximize informational exchange and environmental compliance.
• Conduct safe, efficient, reliable and accurate sampling and monitoring in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. To include data entry, and reporting.
• Conduct all activities in accordance with environmental and safety rules and regulations.
• Helps develop other department personnel to perform the duties listed above.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
• Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
• Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
• Works without risk or harm to self and others.
• Punctuality and regular attendance required.
• Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications And Skill Requirements

• Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
• General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
• Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
• Minimum of 2 years towards environmental or related Bachelor's degree and 0-2 year environmental experience.
• Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
• Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Requires valid driver's license.
