Job summary

Actalent in Parrish, FL is seeking a Manufacturing Lab Technician to support mining operations through field and plant metallurgical testing of phosphate rock core and plant samples. The role focuses on sampling, preparation, and analysis to help mine planning, engineering, and operations teams evaluate mining plans, operating conditions, and ore reserves. The position operates in a lab/plant environment, with a 6:00 a.m.

to 2:00 p.m. schedule, Monday through Friday onsite.

Qualifications

• Experience in metallurgy, minerals processing, or a related lab field.
• Demonstrated ability to perform quality control in lab or industrial settings.
• Ability to work in a lab environment handling rock, slurry and process samples.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to climb stairs and work at various heights.
• Ability to read, write, and understand basic English to follow procedures.
• Willingness to wear standard safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare phosphate rock core and plant samples for metallurgical testing.
• Chop and break down samples, mix, and prepare for processing.
• Pump samples to plant and washer for testing.
• Operate washing equipment to remove impurities.
• Perform separation and sizing to support processing evaluations.
• Conduct density and moisture analyses and record measurements.
• Carry out plant tests and sampling related to flotation and other processes.
• Add chemicals to slurry to promote phosphate flotation and separation.
• Handle slurry movement between plant, washer, and flotation steps.
• Take small-scale samples at each stage ensuring consistency and traceability.
• Return separated samples to lab for analysis and documentation.
• Document all sampling, testing procedures, results, and observations clearly.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on lab equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE.
