Carpenter Technology Corporation is seeking a Met Lab Technician II to prepare samples for analysis and perform metallurgical testing across mechanical, metallographic, magnetic, and heat-treatment areas. The role emphasizes accurate data collection and independent work in a production environment.

The ideal candidate will have lab or metallurgical experience, strong attention to detail, and solid documentation skills to support safe, high-quality manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of relevant manufacturing, laboratory, testing, or metallurgical experience
• Able to work in a production-oriented environment
• Knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and lab practices
• Ability to operate metallurgical and lab equipment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Ability to work independently with moderate supervision
• Problem solving using established processes

Responsibilities

• Prepare material samples for metallurgical analysis.
• Perform mechanical tests including hardness, tensile, and resistivity testing.
• Conduct metallographic testing using etchants, polishing equipment, and lab apparatus.
• Collect, analyze, and record test data accurately.
• Enter and maintain test results in company systems/databases.
• Operate and maintain general metallurgical and laboratory equipment.
• Support lab operations in MT, Preparation, Metallographic, Magnetic, or Heat Treat areas.
• Troubleshoot routine testing issues using established procedures.
• Collaborate with team to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.
• Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned
