Job summary

FCA Quality Organization in Kokomo, Indiana is seeking a Metallurgical Laboratory Technician to support Metallurgical Engineers and Materials Scientists in daily lab operations, including maintaining equipment and analyzing samples.

The role involves operating x-ray machines, spectrometers, pH meters, and microscopic analysis, coordinating with SQA and production teams, and working a 3-shift pattern with weekend requirements.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science and 3+ years laboratory experience.
• Experience with Excel, Word, and Google Sheets.
• Basic understanding of metallurgy and chemistry.
• Willingness to work on all 3 shifts when required.
• Willingness to work overtime including weekends.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality data to support the plant for automatic transmission manufacturing; operate and maintain equipment in the metallurgical lab.
• Maintain computerized records of experimental data.
• Assist in daily Heat Treat checks from the Heat Treat Department.
• Perform engineering tests as required by engineers, including fatigue and torsional tests.
• Operate equipment such as x-ray machines, spectrometers and analyzers.
• Coordinate with SQA, third party service providers, and production control for inspections and teardown activities.
• Flexibility to work on a three-shift pattern with weekend duty.
• Collaborate with team members on tasks and projects.
