Job summary

Shively Bros is seeking a Metallurgical Lab Technician to prepare heat-treated components and perform testing of material structures, micro‑hardness, and case depth using specialized metallurgical equipment.

You will ensure tests follow specifications, review results, and generate reports for materials approval. Responsibilities include maintaining charts for metallurgical processes and complying with manufacturing procedures, while operating lab equipment safely.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong computer skills and ability to organize and prepare reports.
• Adhere to safety guidelines, PPE, chemical handling and reporting unsafe conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform metallurgical testing to analyze material structure, hardness, case depth, and other tests.
• Meet production deadlines by performing tests quickly.
• Review test results, prepare reports and approve materials based on criteria.
• Communicate results to met lab supervisor and plant management.
• Develop and maintain charts and reports for the sediment and metallurgical processes.
• Comply with all Global Manufacturing System procedures.
• Problem-solve during manufacturing processes.
• Safely operate lab equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance.
