Salt River Project (SRP) seeks a motivated College Intern in Materials Science & Metallurgical Engineering to support metallurgical activities in our Gilbert, AZ facilities. The intern will gain hands-on experience under the guidance of a Metallurgical Engineer, performing metallography, microscopy, and failure analysis while contributing to technical reports.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours that are college level (100) or above over the course of a regular semester.
  • Working towards a degree or certificate from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

  • Metallography in the in‑house laboratory and microscopic examinations.
  • Microscopy work to characterize microstructures and phases.
  • Perform failure analysis on metallurgical samples.
  • Conduct field inspections as needed by the department.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Assist with laboratory equipment management and calibration.
