Job summary

ENS is seeking a technically skilled engineer to provide support for the primary melting operation from scrap selection to shipment. You will investigate root causes, participate in process development for new alloys, and guide both hourly and salaried staff while overseeing trials and evaluating specs for cost-effective design.

Qualifications

• BS in Metallurgical or Material Science preferred or commensurate level of related experience and education.
• Experience in a steelmaking environment preferred.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to collect and analyze data to derive applicable information.
• Ability to concisely communicate to internal and external customers in written and verbal format.
• Ability to present comprehensive accurate data to diverse audiences; work well in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for all phases of the primary melting operation from scrap selection to shipment of product.
• Investigate root cause and disposition non-conforming material and customer claims.
• Participate in process development/improvement for new and currently produced alloys.
• Provide training and guidance for hourly and salaried employees.
• Develop and oversee trials.
• Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or product design objectives.
• Conduct or supervise tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure quality.
• Design and direct testing or control of processing procedures.
• Analyze product failure data and lab test results to determine cause of problem and develop solutions.

Job description

ENS operates a fully integrated steelmaking process, including a scrap yard, electric arc furnace, ladle furnace, vacuum tank degasser, vacuum oxygen decarburization unit, teeming bay, annealing furnaces, and shipping operations. You’ll play a key role in driving improvements across this complex and dynamic operation.

What you’ll do
