Job summary

VulcanForms Inc. in Devens, MA seeks a Metallographic Lab Technician to prepare metallic samples for engineering evaluation and part process qualification.

You will perform metallography and report results to Materials and Process Engineering teams in a fast-paced startup environment. The role requires 3+ years in a lab, experience with metallography, and careful attention to detail while handling acids and chemicals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a laboratory setting.
• Experience performing analysis and tests in a lab setting.
• Experience in Metallography, Metallurgy, or Material Sciences.
• Attention to detail and strict adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to view a full color spectrum and other qualities through a microscope.
• Knowledge of safe chemical storage and handling.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine metallographic preparations including sectioning, grinding, polishing, etching, and imaging for analysis and reporting.
• Organize and maintain lab equipment, supplies, and space with preventive maintenance and cleaning.
• Interact with Engineering team members to provide results and lab support for projects.
• Comply with all company and departmental policies and safety procedures.
