Job summary

Luxfer Superform in Riverside, California is seeking a Metal Polisher for first shift. You will grind, sand, deburr, and mirror-polish metal components using hand tools, buffers, and power tools, ensuring surface quality for downstream processes.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma and at least one year of displayable experience in automotive or aerospace manufacturing, with ability to read calipers, blueprints, and shop travelers.

Responsibilities

• Grind, sand, deburr, and polish metal components.
• Correct defects; operate buffering wheel, hand sander, hand buffer, band saw, and drills.
• Prepare surfaces for finishing (anodizing, primer, paint).
• Mark cracks and repairs; identify imperfections before outside processing.
• Polish, buff, and deburr according to specifications.
• Load/unload pieces and keep work area clean.

Position Purpose

Responsible for grinding, sanding, and mirror polishing fabricated metal components. Uses hand tools, buffer wheels, and power tools to ensure a smooth, mirror finish. Inspects for defects.

Main Responsibilities

The main activities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

• Grind, sand, deburr, and polish metal components.
• Correct defects. Must have experience operating buffering wheel, hand sander, hand buffer, band saw, and drills.
• Prepare the surface for further finishing. Prepare all surfaces with smooth finish to go out for processing such as anodizing, primer, and paint.
• Mark cracks and splits for repair. Identify and repair any imperfections on the material (components) prior to any outside process.
• Polish and grind materials according to specifications. Polish, buff, and/or deburr materials according to documented specifications.
• Trim, drill, sand, and rack parts for the next operations.
• Clean equipment and worktables after use. Clean as you go. Keep a clean work area.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of the business through Kaizen initiatives.
• Load or remove work pieces from worktables. Keep the workbench free of any parts at the end of your shift.
• Maintain or repair equipment as needed.
• Other duties asassigned.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one (1) year displayable experience. Preferably in an automotive or manufacturing aerospace environment.
• A self-motivated individual with the ability to take directions then schedule and follow through with daily tasks and assignments.
• A team player that can work effectively with all personnel, as well as be able to work within a fast-paced production environment.

Requirements

• Must be able to occasionally lift product up to 50lbs. and frequently stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to read pi-Tape, calipers, depth gauge, and a weight scale. Ability to read drawings (blueprints) and shop travelers.
• Ability to use calipers, depth gage, micrometer, and height gage.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
