Apple's Metal Game Ecosystem team is seeking an engineer passionate about performance and quality. You will collaborate with third-party game and game engine developers to optimize their renderers for Apple's unified gaming platform, including Mac, iPhone, and iPad. You will serve as the technical voice of the game ecosystem within Apple, influencing future features and projects.

Description

GGML’s Metal Ecosystem team is looking for graphics software engineers to work with leading high-end game and engine developers. We represent the technical voice of the game developer ecosystem to Apple, providing input on future product directions. Your role involves hands-on collaboration with game developers and third-party engine creators to identify key features, optimizations, and discover what’s possible with Metal. You will analyze workloads, suggest performance improvements, and mentor developers to enhance player experience. Engagements will be conducted both in person and virtually, utilizing Apple’s developer tools and deep system knowledge. You will also define goals and timelines aligned with external developers and act as a Metal specialist, offering workshops, source code contributions, and insights to improve workflows. Additionally, you will collaborate with internal teams to highlight opportunities and drive platform improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with rendering and graphics in games
  • Deep knowledge of modern graphics techniques, including ray tracing
  • Proficiency with at least one modern graphics API (e.g., DirectX 12, Vulkan, Metal)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Knowledge of Metal, Vulkan, DirectX 12, or similar APIs
  • Familiarity with macOS, Core Animation, UIKit, Core Graphics, and iOS programming
  • Experience with UI programming, scene graphs, and rendering techniques
  • Background in the video game industry
