Job summary

MPE, Inc. is hiring a Metal Finishing Operator in Milwaukee, WI. This full-time, second-shift position entails preparing sheet metal parts and weldments for paint, using sanding and grinding to achieve a smooth, uniform finish. Training is provided for those new to finishing.

You will read work orders, interpret drawings, and verify quality before parts move to the Paint Line. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and meeting production goals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read work orders and mechanical drawings (standard and metric).
• 6 months to 1 year metal finishing, grinding, welding, or sheet metal experience preferred.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (FDA/ISO) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate orbital/DA sanders to finish surfaces for paint-ready results.
• Grind weld seams flush and deburr edges using grinders and hand tools.
• Read work orders/drawings to determine finishing requirements.
• Inspect parts visually and with measuring tools before moving to Paint Line.
• Maintain cleanliness and perform routine maintenance on finishing equipment.
• Train team members and participate in continuous improvement.
