Job summary

wabashcareers is seeking a skilled metal finish technician in Wisconsin to inspect surfaces and welds, set up and operate finishing equipment, and blend weld burns in tanks and bottles. The role requires working in confined spaces up to four hours and strict adherence to safety policies with appropriate PPE.

You will perform grinding, buffing and finishing tasks on exterior and interior components, and may rotate into other departments as needed to support production.

Qualifications

• Inspect equipment to ensure safe operating condition and completed preventative maintenance checks.
• Examine surfaces and welds to detect defects.
• Ability to work in confined spaces up to four hours.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE (safety shoes, gloves, glasses, hearing protection, respirators).

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment before work to verify safe operating condition and maintenance checks.
• Examine all surfaces and welds to detect defects.
• Set up, adjust and operate equipment safely to produce parts.
• Grind and blend weld burns on exterior and interior of tanks with electrical/pneumatic tools.
• Buff outside heads and grind manhole covers and outlets with tools.
• Grind welds, deburr metal and finish surfaces.
• Complete duties following safety policies to protect self and team.
• Possibly flex into other departments as assigned by supervisor.
