Job summary

Magna International, Inc. is seeking an Assembly Metal Finisher in Birmingham, AL. The role focuses on finishing metal assemblies, reading work instructions, and maintaining quality throughout the process.

Previous manufacturing experience of 6–12 months is preferred. Candidates should be able to lift, use common hand tools, and follow safety protocols in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team environment or independently with little supervision.
• Communicate with team members on all shifts; strong math and organizational skills.
• Identify more severe defects such as high spots, lows, or deep slivers.
• Use hand tools such as body files, flat files, bow files, grinders and sander.
• Verify rework and surface condition with measuring tools and inspection.
• Determine whether a defect is repairable or scrap.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ability to work in a team environment or independently to perform duties with little supervision.
• Ability to communicate with team members on all shifts and possess good mathematical and organizational skills.
• The ability to identify MORE severe defects such as High spots/lows/deep slivers.
• The ability to use various hand tools such as body files{cheese grater}/flat files/bow files/grinder/da sander
• The ability to effectively use high lite oil to verify all rework/surface condition
• The ability to determine when a defect is repairable of scrap.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds and being able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time in a manufacturing environment.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED

Some of the equipment and tools used are basic departmental hand tools and personal protective equipment. Also may include computer and scanning.

KNOWLEDGEEDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED required

OTHER:

Safe work practices, general knowledge of mechanical operations.

WORK EXPERIENCE

WHAT TYPES? Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. HOW MUCH? 6-12 months.

Scanner training.
