Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation’s Pierce Manufacturing division seeks a Painter I to prep truck parts for priming and painting. You’ll use hand and power tools, inspect parts for defects, and help train new hires while keeping a safe, clean work area.

Prior automotive paint or metal finishing experience is preferred, with opportunities for growth and benefits from day one. The role supports 2nd shift with competitive pay and benefits, including retirement plans and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive painting and/or metal finishing.
  • Proficiency with paint prep, priming and finishing processes.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and PPE use.

Responsibilities

  • Prep truck parts and panels for painting using hand and power tools.
  • Caulk, sand, buff and prime parts per instructions.
  • Inspect for defects and repair as needed before painting.
  • Operate equipment and read truck prints to sign off tasks.
  • Mentor and train new hires; contribute to onboarding.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety rules.

Workers operate hand and power tools and equipment in order to prep, repair, and clean truck parts and panels for the priming and painting process. They may perform priming on truck parts or panels as directed and must maintain a safe and clean work environment. They provide mentoring, training, and work instructions to new hires and/or recently transferred co-workers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Use hand and power tools to prep truck parts and panels for the painting processCaulk, hand sand, DA sand and buff parts and panelsInspect and detect defects in parts and panels and repair as neededPaint and prime truck parts and panels as directedUnderstand parts, equipment, and tools used for the paint prepping processPush and pull parts racks and lift parts and panels off of and onto carts and hang and unhang parts and panels for paint processLift parts and equipmentUse of a cart to transport truck parts and panels to and from designated areas for paint preparationFollow written and verbal instructions in order to keep a safe working environment and to complete work tasksCommunicate verbally with co-workers to keep a safe working environmentSweep and clean work area and equipmentBe responsive to needs of co-workers and supervisorsUse a computer to locate and read truck prints and sign off job tasksParticipate in onboarding training (within 6 months of start date) and annual training related to being a hazardous waste handler as required by the EPA RCRA hazardous waste rules.
