Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an energetic R&D Undergraduate Intern to join the Advanced Metals Processing team in Albuquerque, NM. You will contribute to metal additive manufacturing projects, assist with process development, and collaborate with subject matter experts on cutting-edge technologies.

The role emphasizes hands-on experience with laser powder bed fusion and related processes, data analysis, and technical reporting while working on-site at Sandia.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate program.
• Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
• Ability to secure U.S. citizenship and obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with process development.
• Work with laser powder bed fusion, directed energy deposition, and bound powder extrusion.
• Collaborate with team to analyze data and contribute to reports.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions to solve material processing challenges.
