Job summary

Calvert County Public Schools in Prince Frederick, Maryland, seeks a MESA Club Sponsor to oversee the Maryland MESA Program at Calvert Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year. You will report to the School Principal and coordinate activities, communications, and mentoring for students involved in STEM outreach.

The role emphasizes leadership, record keeping, and collaboration with families, staff and the Maryland MESA Central Office to ensure successful events and competitions.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated management, leadership and human relations skills.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions.
• Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion.
• Experience in duties similar to those listed.

Responsibilities

• Shares progress of Maryland MESA with the school principal, regional coordinator and parents.
• Promotes school wide identification of Maryland MESA students (with emphasis on underrepresented groups).
• Keeps accurate records on attendance, tutoring, grades, activities and evaluations.
• Submits forms, grades, etc., to Maryland MESA Central Office in a timely manner.
• Completes an end-of-year evaluation of school activities.
• Plans and conducts school wide meetings.
• Prepares students for competitions.
• Communicates with regional coordinator to share needs and improvements.
• Attends local workshops and meetings.
• Disseminates information to students and parents about events.
