Job summary

CALVERT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS in Huntingtown, MD, seeks an HHS Freshman Class Sponsor for the 2026-2027 school year to represent the Principal in class activities and serve as the school’s resource person for activities and events involving freshmen and sophomores.

The sponsor will work with administrators and the class council to foster student activities, adhere to policy, and ensure effective communication about class affairs. Internal applicants only, fingerprint/background checks required.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and human relations skills.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions.
• Proven ability to carry an assignment to completion.
• Experience or alternatives acceptable to Calvert County Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Plan events for students in collaboration with the principal.
• Assist in other school activities designated by the principal.
• Hold monthly class council meetings and related meetings.
• Monitor elections for class officers and council members.
• Oversee and coordinate with other sponsors on student events.
• Record and report all monies collected for events to the principal's designee.
• Develop financial plans to support class activities and events.
• Schedule class events per school policies.
• Ensure sufficient staff to supervise class activities and events.
• Assign assemblies as directed by the principal.
• Distribute information related to traditional class roles (e.g., class rings).
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
