Our client is a U.S.-based renewable energy provider that enables households and businesses to support sustainable power sources without installing equipment or switching utility companies. By sourcing electricity from regional solar and wind operations, they help customers reduce their environmental footprint through energy plans that integrate with existing utility service. They also offer community-based solar programs that make clean energy more accessible—particularly for renters and those unable to install rooftop systems—while delivering modest cost savings on electric bills.
Role Overview
The Manager of Mergers & Acquisitions will be instrumental in assessing prospective investments and guiding the advanced development of large-scale solar energy projects. This role demands expertise in managing complex initiatives, conducting in-depth financial evaluations, and understanding the dynamics of the renewable power sector. In addition to acquisition responsibilities, the position may also contribute to broader generation-focused financial work—ranging from project funding and risk assessment to strategic financial modeling—as business needs evolve.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth reviews of large-scale solar acquisition opportunities, including financial modeling, industry benchmarking, and identification of potential risks
- Analyze how each prospective project aligns with the company’s broader portfolio strategy and provide informed recommendations to leadership
- Partner with teams across the organization to evaluate both the technical soundness and commercial promise of target assets
- Spot potential deal obstacles early and work to proactively address or eliminate them
- Oversee the final stages of project development, ensuring delivery remains on schedule, within budget, and up to internal standards
- Act as a central coordinator between various internal departments—such as engineering, finance, and asset management—as well as third-party stakeholders to ensure operational continuity and regulatory alignment after closing
- Keep internal systems and documentation current, including dashboards, and closing checklists, to safeguard asset value over time
- Help define and iterate on internal processes to support smooth transactions and efficient post-acquisition follow-through
- Cultivate and sustain productive relationships with partners, developers, capital providers, and key regulatory contacts
- Support agreement structuring and deal execution in collaboration with finance and legal counterparts
- Maintain clear, proactive communication across teams to keep everyone aligned on priorities, deliverables, and key project milestones
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as economics, engineering, finance, or equivalent practical experience
- Deep familiarity with the full lifecycle of solar energy projects, including site selection, grid integration, permitting processes, construction, and funding strategies
- Proven background in evaluating acquisition targets through comprehensive diligence efforts
- Strong grasp of market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, policy trends, and financial drivers essential to renewable project success
- Skilled at resolving complex issues and making informed decisions in high-stakes situations
- High level of precision and care in managing data, documents, and project inputs
- Capable of juggling competing priorities and timelines across multiple initiatives without sacrificing quality
- Adept at building trust and effective collaboration across diverse teams and organizational hierarchies
- Adaptable, team-oriented, and able to thrive in a cooperative work environment
