Job summary

Mercury Racing, a division of Brunswick, is seeking a co-op student for Product Development in Fond du Lac, WI. You will join the engineering team to develop and validate racing prototypes and production components, testing mechanical and electrical engine parts.

Currently enrolled in a BS program (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) with 48 credits completed, you must be available for full-time work January–August 2027.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a BS program with a major in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits.
• Availability to work full-time (40+ hours per week) during January–August 2027.
• Working knowledge of powertrain or drivetrain components.
• Ability to use basic hand tools, lab instruments, and measurement devices (calipers, gauges).
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and self-motivation; able to work under general supervision.

As part of the talented Mercury Racing Product Development team, you will participate in developing and validating racing prototypes and production components. You will work alongside the engineering development team testing mechanical and electrical engine components.

• Support system level component testing and validation of mechanical and electrical systems
• Assist with hands-on component prototype and production builds

Required Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in a BS program with a major in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits
• Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) during the the months of January through August 2027
• Working knowledge of powertrain or drivetrain components
• Ability to use basic hand tools, lab instruments, and measurement devices (calipers, gauges).
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude (engine knowledge is a plus) and creative ability; self-motivated; ability to work under general supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of engines/transmissions
• Able to work full time during the spring/summer Jan-August 2027
• Programming language (python, C or C++), matlab/Simulink
• Knowledge of CAD software
• Coursework knowledge in statics, dynamics, thermodynamics or mechatronics

• Hours: Co-ops and Interns are expected to work a full 40-hour work week
• Feedback and Performance Reviews: As a co-op or intern, you will receive feedback and performance reviews throughout your assignment. We value the importance for interns to understand their progress and areas for improvement.

The pay range for this position is $18.00-27.50 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
