Job summary

South State Bank Merchant Services in Birmingham, Alabama, is seeking a Merchant Services Representative I to develop new accounts and expand existing ones. You will meet with business owners to assess card payment needs and align Merchant Services solutions accordingly, partnering with branch and treasury teams to generate leads and close deals.

You will provide professional, consultative sales, maintain a robust sales pipeline, and ensure onboarding and training for new merchants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, or related fields or equivalent experience.
• At least two years in Merchant Services and three years in Retail/Commercial Banking; sales/marketing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of payment solutions and PCI compliance considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop new accounts within an established geographic bank territory.
• Provide consultative sales and apply policies to resolve issues.
• Maintain an active Merchant Services sales pipeline and follow up on referrals.
• Prepare tailored Merchant Services proposals responsive to customer needs.
• Collaborate with Branch Managers, Commercial Bankers, and Treasury Management Sales Officers.
