Job summary

Family Dollar in Chesapeake, Virginia seeks a Merchant Assistant to support buyers in a fast-paced merchandising environment. You will liaise with suppliers and internal partners, handling supplier set-up, SKU creation, PO processing, marketing, billing and customer support.

This role serves as a steppingstone to other merchandising careers within Family Dollar. The ideal candidate is organized, a strong communicator, and a team player, able to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Microsoft Office experience required.
• Retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Become a subject matter expert in your business category.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with buying team and cross-functional partners.
• Prepare for team meetings with materials that support the agenda.
• Actively contribute during meetings by sharing insights and taking notes.
• Accountable for supplier, SKU, and PO creation/maintenance processes.
• Function as liaison between buyers, Data Management, suppliers and Private Brands.
• Follow up with online reviews and seasonal buys.
• Own departmental trackers for submitted and completed work.
• Communicate updates and new product information with suppliers.
