Job summary

Smith Gardens, Inc. in Washington state invites an experienced Merchandising Supervisor to lead a team of 15+ merchandisers serving Home Depot and Walmart Garden Centers.

You will recruit, train, and coordinate staff, execute approved merchandising plans, and work closely with store teams to ensure premium plant displays. The role requires 3–5 years in merchandising and management, strong leadership and communication, and the ability to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of management / leadership experience.
• 3-5 years of merchandising experience.
• Experience in nursery and/or bedding plants preferred.
• Smartphone clock-in/out and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, hire, train and team-build 15+ merchandisers.
• Collaborate with merchandisers, store staff and managers.
• Interact with customers and vendors professionally.
• Execute merchandising plans, layouts and Plant-O-Grams.
• Use reports to manage daily/weekly merchandising budgets and labor.
• Report inventory and plant quality issues to HD/WM Account Managers.
• Manage, correct and approve timecards.
• Restock displays and put away new orders.
• Ensure product signage and ads are correct.
• Execute sales plan and KPIs for customers and SGI.
• Report store issues to Regional Merchandising Manager.
• Ensure plants are watered; assist as needed.
• Cull unsellable merchandise following procedures.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Merchandising Supervisor tojoin our Merchandising department.

JOB DUTIES:

• Responsible to recruit, interview, hire, train, and team build a professional and knowledgeable merchandising staff of 15+ merchandisers that work in Home Depot and Walmart Garden Centers.
• Work as a team member with merchandisers, store associates, store managers and district managers
• Interact with customers and other vendors in a courteous and professional manner
• Execute approved merchandising plans, store layouts and Plant-O-Grams
• Utilize reports to manage daily/week merchandising budgets, track labor, and monitor store/territory sales and sell-thru
• Communicate store inventory and plant quality issues to HD/WM Account Managers and Replenishment Analysts
• Manage, correct, and approve timecards
• Put away new orders and restock displays
• Ensure all product is signed correctly and Ads are executed
• Execute assigned sales plan and key performance Indicators for Customer and SGI.
• Communicate store issues and concerns to the Regional Merchandising Manager on a regular basis
• Ensure Smith Gardens plants fully watered, assist as needed
• Remove unsellable merchandise from tables and follow culling/discounting procedures
• Retail work environment includes weekends and holiday work schedules

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

• 3-5 years of management / leadership experience
• 3-5 years of merchandising experience
• Prior experience in nursery and or bedding plants - Preferable
• Must have a smartphone to clock in/out of the timekeeping system (Android version 8.0 or later or Apple IOS version 12 or later)
• Must have reliable transportation and a current driver's license with auto insurance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Pushing and pulling fully loaded rolling delivery racks of product (approximate weight 300-500 lbs.)
• Work long hours as needed during busy season, including weekends and holidays.
• Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time
• Ability to work outside in inclement weather, rain, wind, heat, cold, direct sun, etc.

PAY RAGE:

PAY RAGE: $28.70 - $30.70 per hour

Pay rate is determined by various components including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The pay rate is one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards vary by position and location.
