Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Grocery Retail Division Manager to lead merchandising execution across assigned stores in the Fairfax area. You will drive sales, optimize gross profit, and manage labor targets by coaching Department Managers and Store Directors.

You will evaluate store presentation, ensure policy compliance, and deliver training on product knowledge, customer service, and merchandising tactics. This role requires strong leadership and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years in grocery retail with strong understanding across the assigned department.
• Previous Department Manager and Store Director experience.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of people in person and over the phone.
• Marketing orientation.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Math skills to complete straightforward analysis.
• Strong leadership skills with ability to lead and motivate others without directly supervising.
• Tech savvy and comfortable with complex systems.
• Collaborative work with cross-functional partners.
• Fluent in MS Office, especially Excel, including VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and formulas.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to travel division-wide, up to 70%.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, enforce, and support execution of the division merchandising plan for the department in assigned stores
• Travel to assigned stores and work with Department Managers and staff to meet sales, gross profit, and labor targets
• Counsel Department Managers and Store Directors on product merchandising and customer service
• Evaluate department presentation, cleanliness, compliance, and program execution against company policies and procedures
• Measure store-level performance through department sales, gross profit, and labor percentage
• Execute plans through store visits, reviewing results, and observing department conditions
• Determine training program success by reviewing and assessing evaluations
• Provide work guidance on product knowledge, sales and marketing techniques, profit and loss, and policy compliance
• Train Department Managers on business basics and department management
• Provide Store Directors with input on Department Manager performance
