Job summary

Meijer Inc. is offering a 11-week Merchandising Internship designed to immerse interns in the core teams responsible for product flow and category management.

You’ll participate in primary training on Excel, MicroStrategy, Dunnhumby, and Nielsen, and gain hands-on experience with seasonal planning, item setup, and cross-functional collaboration. Interns will engage in challenging projects, receive exposure to senior leaders, and have opportunities for professional development and networking

Qualifications

• Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in merchandising, supply chain, business administration, finance, economics, retail, logistics or a related field.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to gather and interpret data from the various reporting
• Knowledge of the retail industry, including category management and customer behaviors
• Previous retail experience preferred
• Relationship Skills – can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, vendors, and office support staff
• Drive for results – has focus on the bottom line
• Customer focus – dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers
• Communication Skills – conveys the right information in writing and verbally
• Microsoft application experience, with the ability to learn additional systems and tools

Responsibilities

• Learn both the strategic and tactical aspects of merchandising and product flow within a Core team
• Participate in training courses at program start for technical development (Excel, MicroStrategy, Dunnhumby, Nielsen)
• Collaborate with supply chain, logistics, and marketing teams on projects
• Assist with product assortment planning, item setup, and vendor interactions
• Contribute to the development of seasonal category business plans
