Job summary

Bell Nursery in Alexandria, VA is hiring a merchandiser to unload, stock live goods, and create attractive displays in our garden centers during the February–October season. This outdoor role keeps you active, with lifting up to 50 lb and pushing carts, while you help bring plants and flowers to life.

You will follow plan-o-grams, maintain inventory, and coordinate with store leadership. Reliable transportation and weekend availability are strongly preferred, and the team provides on-the-job

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physical outdoor work.
• Capacity to lift up to 50 lb and push/pull carts up to 100 lb.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work weekends.
• Comfort with smartphones to manage payroll/inventory apps and communicate via text/email/phone.

Responsibilities

• Unload, move, and stock live-goods shipments.
• Execute merchandising and display plans (plan-o-grams).
• Maintain accurate inventory; monitor watering and sustainability standards.
• Communicate daily with store leadership on execution and status.
• Provide basic customer service when needed.

What you'll do (Merchandiser responsibilities)

• Unload, move, and stock live-goods shipments - manually or with help - including lifting and carrying up to 50 lb, and pushing/pulling carts up to ~100 lb
• Execute merchandising and display plans (plan-o-grams), including setting promotional ads
• Maintain accurate inventory, monitor watering/sustainability standards, and ensure live goods are well cared for
• Communicate daily with store and Bell Nursery leadership on execution and store status
• Provide basic customer service when needed

• Enjoy working outdoors, being active, and doing physical work
• Comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, sometimes variable environment
• Reliable, alert, safety-conscious, with good problem-solving skills
• Able to work weekends (strongly preferred), and access to dependable transportation (private or public)
• Comfortable using a smartphone to manage payroll/inventory apps, and communicating via text, email, or phone
