FullTime Professional Charlottesville, VA, US

Salary Range: $55,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually

Company Mission

Rhoback is a community of passionate and motivated people looking to generate positivity, bring people together, and inspire activity by creating high quality products and engaging content for those who seek inspiration, motivation, and connection with a #craveactivity mentality.

The Role

Rhoback is looking for a driven, detail-oriented Merchandiser to lead surface design merchandising across the licensing and mainline businesses. This role carries full ownership of licensing color and print — from weekly reviews with the Co-founder to wholesale line book selection — while also driving mainline surface design, website merchandising, and daily reporting in close partnership with the Merchandising Manager of Surface Design.

It's a broad, high-visibility role that touches nearly every part of the business. The right candidate brings a sharp eye for color and print, strong analytical instincts, and the confidence to own their categories and make decisions with data. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, communicate well across teams, and are ready to grow with Rhoback as the business scales.

This position reports to the Merchandising Manager and is based in person at Rhoback's Charlottesville, VA headquarters.

What You'll Do
  • Own the full licensing surface design and color merchandising function — including weekly print and color reviews with the Design team, Licensing team, and Co-founder.
  • Lead last-look licensing surface design reviews and drive color and print selection for wholesale line books.
  • Build and manage the licensing style master and seasonal database (~1,500+ SKU count); become the company's foremost expert on each licensing seasonal assortment.
  • Maintain and update the licensing database seasonally; record velocity for each licensing SKU and analyze performance vs. prior seasons to inform future decisions.
  • Own licensing email calendar segmentation; partner with the Design team on in-season and future-season quick-turn licensing opportunities.
  • Meet regularly with leadership to present and align on future licensing seasonal assortments.
  • Drive weekly color and print merchandising reviews for mainline Men's and Women's surface design in partnership with the Merchandising Manager.
  • Own comp color decisions for PO reviews; maintain digital visual assortments and historical physical color and print swatch boards.
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise across colors and prints in each seasonal mainline line (~1,500+ SKU count).
  • Lead website imagery selection for product categories and features in partnership with the creative team and Merchandising Manager.
  • Own website campaign prioritization and seasonal website flips; build and maintain campaign collection lists for web merchandising.
  • Pull item-level sales daily, record velocity, maintain tracking records, and own collection-level sales and sell-through reporting for large marketing campaigns.
  • Own licensing and lead mainline color and print selection for seasonal wholesale line books; manage wholesale visual files for both mainline and licensing assortments.
  • Lead line book audits and red-line reviews before distribution; oversee wholesale swatchbook assembly in coordination with the sales team.
What We're Looking For
  • Sharp eye for color and print — you have strong, informed opinions and can defend them with sales data and market context.
  • Highly organized and self-directed — you own multiple workstreams simultaneously, operate with minimal oversight, follow up proactively, and keep stakeholders aligned.
  • Analytically minded; comfortable pulling reports, tracking velocity, and translating data into clear merchandising decisions.
  • Confident communicator who can present to senior leadership and co-founders and work fluidly across creative, planning, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Proven ability to own a category end-to-end in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.
  • Strong understanding of college sports and professional sports leagues (NFL, MLB) is a plus for the licensing side of this role.
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets required; experience with Centric, NetSuite, Shopify, Figma, VibeIQ, or similar systems is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
  • Licensing reviews run on schedule, color and print decisions are data-backed, and the seasonal database is accurate and current at all times.
  • Mainline surface design reviews are well-prepared, and comp color and PO inputs are delivered consistently and on time.
  • Website merchandising is proactively planned ahead of each campaign and seasonal flip with minimal direction needed.
  • Daily and collection-level reporting is reliable, timely, and actively informing cross-functional decisions.
  • Wholesale line books and visual files are delivered accurately and on time every season.
  • The Merchandising Manager and Co-founder rely on you as the go-to expert on licensing and surface design assortments.
Education and Experience
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent, ideally in Apparel Merchandising, Fashion Business, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in merchandising, buying, or a related apparel role, with demonstrated category ownership.
  • Experience with Centric, NetSuite, Shopify, Figma, VibeIQ, or similar PLM/ERP/merchandising systems is a plus.
