Job summary

MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas is seeking a Senior Merchandise Planning Manager to lead the merchandise planning process for pre-season budgets and in-season forecasting, tracking sales, inventory, margins, receipts, and markdowns.

You will work with Executive Director and Planning Managers to develop store/classification plans, reconcile bottom-up and top-down plans, manage OTB, replenishment, and pricing strategies, while partnering with Retail Finance for monthly and seasonal reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 3+ years of prior relevant experience required.
  • Experience with MS Word and Outlook (Intermediate level) required.
  • Advanced knowledge Internet, PowerPoint and databases required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Executive Director with managing inventory plans from investments through allocation and execution.
  • Support planning managers in developing pre-season plans by store/classification and store/vendor.
  • Reconcile bottom-up plans to top-down plans and revise variances as needed.
  • Review plans with Retail Store Operators and Merchandising and assist with re-forecasting.
  • Oversee Open to Buy process to meet sales and margin objectives.
  • Manage all aspects of store and vendor replenishment, including setup and schedules.

THE JOB:

The Senior Merchandise Planning Manager is responsible for managing the Merchandise Planning process for both pre-season budgets and in-season forecasting for retail metrics including sales, inventory levels, margins, receipts and markdowns.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:
  • Assists Executive Director with managing inventory plans from investments through allocation and execution, including ongoing reviews and updates
  • Assists the Planning Managers in using top-down plans to develop pre-season plans by store/classification and store/vendor
  • Reconcile bottom- up plans to the top-down plans as set by Executive Director of Planning and review and revise variances
  • Reviews plans with Retail Store Operators and Retail Merchandising and assist with re-forecasting as needed
  • Responsible for Open to Buy (OTB) process to ensure product flow will meet sales and margin objectives
  • Manages all aspects of store and vendor replenishment, including vendor replenishment set up and schedules
  • Reviews assortment plans/fixture plans by store to ensure open to buy (OTB) reconciliation and accurate allocation of product
  • Oversee the markdown process to maximize gross margins and mitigate risk
  • Executes the pricing and promotion strategies to drive incremental gross margin dollars
  • Works with Planning Managers, Planners, and Buying teams to ensure timely seasonal transitions of merchandise
  • Works with Distribution Center to convert monthly dollar budget into unit flow
  • Partners with Retail Finance to prepare and execute monthly, quarterly, and seasonal business reviews
  • Reviews P&L and analyze financial reports to determine actionable improvements as it relates to inventory and gross margins
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 3+ Years of prior relevant experience required
  • Experience with MS Word and Outlook (Intermediate level) required
  • Advanced knowledge Internet, PowerPoint and databases required
