Job summary

Burlington Stores, Inc. is offering a 10-week Merchandise Planning Analyst Internship designed to mirror day-to-day activities of a full-time associate.

The program covers retail planning concepts, Excel training, and shadowing across planning, merchandising, and finance. Interns will analyze location-level performance, develop dashboards, and support forecasting while participating in cross-functional projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with anticipated graduation between December 2027 and August 2028.
• Interest in retail planning, analytics, merchandising, finance, or related business functions.
• Strong ability to analyze information, interpret data, and support business recommendations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support the Merchandise Planning team within one of Burlington's merchandising divisions.
• Analyze location-level sales performance, trends, and key business metrics to identify opportunities and risks.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and analyses to inform planning decisions.
• Assist with forecasting activities and business performance reviews.
• Partner with Planning, Merchandising, Finance, and cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives.
• Utilize data and analytics to make recommendations for location-specific sales and inventory strategies.
• Participate in scenario planning and business modeling to evaluate opportunities and impacts.
• Identify trends and insights that support sales growth and business performance.

A Day In The Life

Our internship program serves as a starting point for a career journey in Merchandise Planning at Burlington. Here's what you can expect:

• A 10-week summer program designed to provide meaningful hands-on experience and professional development through:
• Leadership development seminars
• Classroom-style training in retail planning concepts, retail math, and Microsoft Excel
• Tours of our stores and distribution centers
• Peer networking opportunities
• Community service project
• Hands-on exposure to key areas of our business through shadowing experiences with business leaders and cross-functional partners.
• A hybrid work model that mirrors our full-time associates' experience, typically consisting of 2-3 days in the office and 2-3 days remote each week. Business needs may require adjustments to this schedule. Relocation assistance is available for eligible interns.

Our Day in the Life of a Merchandise Planning Analyst Intern

• Support the Merchandise Planning team within one of Burlington's merchandising divisions.

You’ll Come With

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, Merchandising, or a related field. Relevant coursework and transferable skills will also be considered.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.
• Interest in retail planning, analytics, merchandising, finance, or related business functions.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply data to support business recommendations.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

This role requires regular travel to Burlington's New Jersey office throughout the internship program. Candidates must be able to meet the attendance and travel requirements of the position.
