Position Summary

Our wholesale fashion manufacturing client is looking for an experience Wholesale Merchandise Planner. This role involves planning inventory purchases by analyzing past performance and evaluating current stock levels. The position plays a key part in adjusting merchandise strategies based on real-time sales insights to optimize product mix and profitability.

Onsite 5 days. Midtown office

Wholesale planning experience required, outerwear and/or swimwear apparel!

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor product movement weekly and revise inventory forecasts by style accordingly.
• Use sales performance data to pinpoint profitable items or underperforming areas, suggesting actionable next steps.
• Provide merchandising teams with performance breakdowns and consumer behavior trends to guide design decisions.
• Generate production strategies by customer group and current sales trends, evaluating performance at the individual SKU level.
• Build detailed assortment plans rooted in both historical patterns and forward-looking projections.
• Conduct ongoing evaluations of inventory and sales trends throughout the season, recalibrating orders to reduce excess and avoid missed sales.
• Quickly identify and address any potential issues with overstock or out-of-stock risks through targeted strategy shifts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3–4+ years of experience in merchandising, planning, or inventory control.
• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and shift priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential.
• Familiarity with platforms like Retail Link, NuOrder, or SKYIT is highly desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities, especially in reporting and customer interactions.
• Skilled in generating and interpreting weekly inventory and sales data to inform tactical decisions.
