Job summary

The Durham Bulls Merchandise Intern supports retail operations by assisting with inventory management, product merchandising, customer service, and game-day store operations across the stadium and e-commerce platforms.

You will learn sales techniques, help with merchandising displays, stock shelves, process POS transactions, and deliver a high-quality fan experience that reflects the Bulls brand during all home events.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily operations including merchandising, stocking, inventory and seasonal staff management.
• Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Deliver excellent customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, and offering product recommendations.
• Maintain organized and visually appealing product displays according to merchandising standards.
• Stock shelves and restock items during events; ensure merchandise is tagged and priced.
• Assist with receiving shipments, counting inventory, and updating records.
• Support retail needs during home games, events, and promotions; manage crowd flow and maintain a clean environment.
• Uphold the Durham Bulls brand with professional appearance and positive attitude.
• Communicate product and brand knowledge to enhance fan experience.

OverviewThe Merchandise Intern supports the retail operations of the Durham Bulls by assisting with inventory management, product merchandising, customer service, and game-day store operations. The intern will learn effective sales techniques that ensure fans receive high-quality shopping experience that reflect the team’s brand and values throughout the stadium and e-commerce platforms.

Retail OperationsKey Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Assist with the daily operations, including merchandising, stocking, inventory and management of seasonal staff.
• Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Deliver excellent customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, and providing product recommendations.

Merchandising & Inventory

• Maintain organized and visually appealing product displays according to merchandising standards.
• Stock shelves, restock items as needed during events, and ensure all merchandise is properly tagged and priced.
• Participate in receiving shipments, counting inventory, and updating inventory records.

Game-Day Support

• Support retail needs during home games, special events, and promotional activities on both game and non-game days throughout the year.
• Assist with crowd flow, line management, and maintaining a clean and safe retail environment.

Brand Representation

• Uphold the Durham Bulls’ brand by maintaining a professional appearance and positive attitude.
• Communicate product and brand knowledge to enhance our fan experience.

Required Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills .

• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred, especially in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

• Capability Capacity to stand for extended periods of time.
• Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds boxes.
• Perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
• Close vision and ability to differentiate colors.

Work Conditions:

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to remain focused and productive in noisy, crowded environments with multiple distractions
• May require working outdoors in varying and unpredictable weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind

Pre-Employment Information

• Pay Rate: $13/hour
• Anticipated Duration: This position is expected to continue through September 2027. Candidates who are available through May 2027 may also be considered
• A pre-employment drug screening isrequired.
