Job summary

The Pokémon Company International is seeking a Merchandise Development Specialist to provide creative direction, brand context, and data-informed insight for product development across Home, Office, and Outdoors categories. You will shape product storytelling, briefs, and quality across multiple product sets while partnering with Production, Project Management, Clients, and Approvals to maintain momentum.

The role emphasizes strong product development experience, brand fluency, critical thinking

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of experience in merchandise and graphic design development for consumer products.
• Strong knowledge of the product creation process from concept to production.
• Proven ability to work across established lines and new (R&D) product development.

Responsibilities

• Own category or subcategory coherence with brand standards, customer expectations, and category goals, supported by data-informed reasoning.
• Translate strategy into actionable briefs for internal teams.
• Guide product direction across established lines and R&D opportunities using brand knowledge and market awareness.
• Own timelines, readiness, and quality for assigned product work with cross‑functional teams.
• Independently manage 3–5 product sets, maintaining momentum across Production, Project Management, Clients, Approvals.
• Apply brand understanding to ensure product and artwork deliver clear storytelling and emotional connection for fans.
• Provide creative direction in partnership with Designers and evaluate output against brand standards.
• Lead concept development across subcategories, delivering 3–6 concepts per product set and presenting trade-offs.
