Job summary

Project Talent Partners is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to lead field execution for data center projects. You will plan, coordinate, and supervise all MEP activities, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time turnover.

The role requires 7–10 years of commercial construction experience, including 5 years in MEP supervision, plus data center experience preferred. On-site role with strong leadership and coordination duties.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of commercial construction experience, incl. 5+ years supervising MEP installations.
  • Data center or mission-critical project experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple MEP subcontractors on large projects.
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction certification mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day MEP field activities on site for data center projects.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection works and subs.
  • Ensure work aligns with drawings, specs, codes, and quality standards.
  • Participate in planning, scheduling, and coordination meetings.
  • Oversee safety, QA/QC, testing, and system turnover.

Job description

Reports To: Senior Superintendent / Project Manager

Position Summary:

The MEP Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPF) activities on data center construction projects. This role ensures MEP systems are installed safely, in accordance with contract documents, project specifications, quality standards, and schedule requirements.

Working closely with project management, design teams, commissioning teams, and trade partners, the MEP Superintendent leads field execution from installation through testing, commissioning, and final turnover.

Key Responsibilities
Field Operations
  • Lead day to day MEP construction activities on site.
  • Coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection subcontractors.
  • Ensure work complies with project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve field coordination issues.
  • Coordinate MEP activities with structural, architectural, and civil work.
  • Monitor subcontractor manpower, productivity, and performance.
Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop and implement short‑term MEP work plans.
  • Support overall project schedule and key milestone achievement.
  • Participate in pull planning and coordination meetings.
  • Identify schedule risks and implement recovery plans as required.
  • Coordinate delivery and installation of major MEP equipment.
Quality & Commissioning
  • Ensure installations meet project QA/QC requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and turnover documentation.
  • Support equipment start up, commissioning, and integrated systems testing.
  • Manage punch list completion and final closeout activities.
Safety
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and project safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular field inspections and address unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with site safety policies.
Communication & Coordination
  • Participate in coordination meetings with project teams, clients, consultants, and trade partners.
  • Review BIM models and assist in resolving installation conflicts.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and field documentation.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 7–10 years of commercial construction experience, including at least 5 years supervising MEP installations.
  • Previous mission critical or data center experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple MEP subcontractors on large‑scale construction projects.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of commercial MEP systems, building codes, and construction practices.
  • Experience with mission critical infrastructure including power distribution, HVAC, fire protection, and building automation systems.
  • Understanding of commissioning processes and quality management.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, planning, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction management software; experience with Primavera P6, Navisworks, or Autodesk Construction Cloud is an advantage.
Certifications
Required
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction
Preferred
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Lean Construction or commissioning‑related training
