Atlantach Technical Services is hiring an MEP Quality Control Inspector to support a major general contractor on a large construction project in the Baltimore area. This is a full-time, onsite role starting immediately, with an expected duration of 24 months.
The project is delivered under U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) quality requirements, so hands‑on experience running QC within the USACE system is required. Life science or pharmaceutical project experience is a strong plus.
USACE Requirements
Candidates must be able to step into a USACE quality program on day one. That means:
- Current CQM-C certification (Construction Quality Management for Contractors), issued through the USACE course and kept current with renewal every 5 years
- Proven use of the USACE three-phase control system (preparatory, initial, and follow‑up inspections) for each definable feature of work
- Experience with RMS/QCS (Resident Management System, Quality Control System module) for daily QC reports, deficiency tracking, and submittal records
- Working knowledge of USACE QC specifications, including UFGS Section 01 45 00 (Quality Control) and how it ties to the project’s contract specs
- Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 (USACE Safety and Health Requirements Manual) and how safety and quality overlap on site
- Comfort working directly with USACE Quality Assurance representatives, including joint inspections, deficiency resolution, and documentation reviews
What You’ll Do
- Inspect mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations to confirm they match drawings, specifications, codes, and approved submittals
- Lead preparatory, initial, and follow‑up inspections for MEP features of work, and document each phase in RMS/QCS
- Identify, log, and close out deficiencies with trade partners and the project team
- Produce daily QC reports, inspection logs, and test records that hold up to government review
- Witness and document testing, including pipe pressure tests, insulation resistance (megger) testing, and equipment startups
- Review MEP submittals for compliance before installation begins
- Coordinate daily with the QC Manager, superintendents, subcontractors, and USACE QA staff
- Support system turnover, commissioning, and closeout documentation as systems come online
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of MEP quality control or inspection experience on commercial, institutional, or federal construction
- At least one project completed under a USACE quality program
- Current CQM-C certification
- Strong working knowledge of MEP systems and the codes that govern them (NEC, IMC, IPC, or local equivalents)
- Clear, thorough documentation habits and experience managing a deficiency log
- Comfort working onsite daily and coordinating across multiple trades
- OSHA 30 preferred (OSHA 10 at minimum)
Preferred
- Life science, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated project experience (cleanrooms, process piping, validation support)
- Trade background as an electrician, pipefitter, plumber, or HVAC technician
- Experience on other federal programs such as NAVFAC or VA projects
