Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an MEP Project Manager to lead MEP-dominant projects and provide strong financial and on-site leadership. The role covers budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and client relations to ensure quality, timeliness, and safety.

Two levels exist (I and II) with pay ranges linked to experience and location; travel up to 100% is required as projects dictate. Mortenson offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction-related field or equivalent.
• Six+ years in construction management; PM I focus, mechanical/electrical contractors preferred.
• Seven+ years in construction management; PM II focus, mechanical/electrical contractors preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee overall financial health of projects.
• Develop and maintain project financials and equipment projections.
• Allocate project estimates into the financial system and manage invoices.
• Provide financials and billings to accounting for timely payment.
• Oversee budget, select trade partners and suppliers, manage billings and contracts.
• Coordinate 3-D clash resolution before installation.
• Direct commissioning, start-up plan, COT, schedule, and testing.
• Lead closeout activities, manuals, turnover, and training.
• Manage Assistant PMs and Project Engineers, mentor and assign tasks.
• Act as main owner contact and on-site representative, resolve site concerns.

Job description

MEP Project Manager I and II

Mortenson is seeking a MEP Project Manager to lead and direct MEP-dominant projects or MEP scopes on medium to large projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and safety, while mentoring the project team and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service.

This position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage overall financial health of projects
• Develop and maintain project financial and equipment projections
• Allocate project estimate into financial system, determine cost codes, approve invoices, manage budget
• Provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment, create monthly owner billings
• Oversee budget and select trade partners and suppliers, handle billings and contract management
• Oversee 3-D coordination process to resolve conflicts before installation
• Direct and manage commissioning process, including start-up plan, COT, schedule, and functional testing
• Lead project closeout activities, including operations and maintenance manuals, model turnover, and training
• Manage Assistant Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s), provide job assignments, career development, and feedback
• Function as main contact with owner and on-site representative, resolve site concerns, build positive relationships

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field experience
• Current driver's license
• Ability to manage development to closeout responsibilities for complex projects
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, project, and relevant web applications
• Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
• Active listening and effective communication skills, open to diverse input and feedback
• Ability to travel up to 100%

MEP Project Manager I

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum six years of construction management experience, preferably with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor

The base pay range for this role is $113,500 - $170,300

MEP Project Manager II

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum seven years construction management experience, preferably experience with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor

The base pay range for this role is $132,100 - $198,200

(Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
