Job summary

Trane Technologies invites applications for a Preconstruction Estimator in Rocky Hill, CT. You will identify and develop turnkey HVAC contracting projects, including scope development, cost estimating, and collaboration with local contractors and Account Managers.

The role supports bid efforts, price analysis, and proposal development to ensure competitive and accurate estimates for internal teams and customers in a dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• Mechanical and/or HVACR related work experience required.
• Experience with construction estimating, project bidding, and/or procurement for mechanical, electrical, and all associated building systems.
• Knowledge of construction methods and ability to direct subcontractors for bid information.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours and some travel.
• Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with clean driving record in last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate mechanical and electrical systems, develop cost estimates for materials, subcontract scope, and labor.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates with scope definitions, exclusions, and vendor quotes.
• Collect project data and analyze plans to assemble comprehensive estimates.
• Take-off quantities for purchased equipment ensuring accuracy.
• Review bid documents and subcontractor proposals for conflicts and constructability.
• Lead pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.
• Coordinate with Operations/Fulfillment to control labor and material costs.
