S+B James Construction is seeking an MEP Engineer to support the execution of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems on healthcare, education, and commercial projects in California and the surrounding region.

Based in Sacramento, you will collaborate with PMs, BIM/VDC, and field teams, ensuring installations meet project documents, codes, and quality standards while developing toward an MEP coordinator role.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, Procore, and scheduling software.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as plans and specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
• Self-starter with strong organizational, file management, and time management skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a team‑based environment.
• Ability to problem solve and develop outcomes with multiple stakeholders.
• A knowledge seeker who will ask why and research things they do not understand.
• Someone who can work hard and play hard!

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction: BIM participation and oversight; Procurement and planning.
• Construction: Submittal and shop drawing management; Review and management of RFIs; Assist in prepping and processing change orders; Document control; Manage lead times to fit into schedule; Trade partner and field management; Technical oversight; QA/QC; Commissioning, closeout, and turnover.
