Job summary

BL Companies in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Mid-Career with 4–7 years of MEP experience to design, develop, and execute MEP projects from concept through completion, in collaboration with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of experience in MEP engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
• Strong technical skills and willingness to develop project management abilities.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of federal and state codes governing MEP design.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of flow diagrams for mechanical systems.
• Perform heat load and static pressure calculations.
• Support in sizing equipment and ductwork to meet project specifications.
• Assist in designing basic one-line risers.
• Support in specifying fire alarm devices.
• Contribute to lighting and control plans, ensuring design standards.
• Help determine power and feeder requirements for mechanical systems.
• Assist in selecting fixtures and components.
• Contribute to pipe sizing and routing for sanitary, storm, gas, and domestic systems.
• Ensure systems have proper venting and service sizing.
• Design risers and planning sprinkler head locations for projects.
