Job summary

BL Companies seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead its MEP Engineering team across multiple disciplines, guiding engineers and designers to deliver complex projects on time and within budget. The role emphasizes resource management, staff development, and strong client care.

The position supports collaboration across BL's Meriden, Hartford, Charlotte, and Wilmington offices, promoting a hands-on leadership approach in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) required.
• 10+ years of MEP Engineering experience with minimum 6 years in project management (10+ preferred).
• Demonstrated supervisory experience.
• Proven track record in business development and client relations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a multi-discipline MEP project team.
• Ensure quality, schedule, and profitability on projects.
• Coordinate with clients and subconsultants.
• Support business development and proposals, including contracts.
• Monitor project status, budgets, and backlog with department manager.
• Mentor staff and ensure billable targets are met.
• Recruit, develop and retain staff per growth strategy.

MEP Engineering - Project Manager

BL Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Engineering team, leading a group of engineers and designers in the successful delivery of multi-discipline projects across our numerous market sectors. This position is a result of our continued growth and will require a high focus on resource and workload management, personnel development, and client care.

Location: This position can be based in any of BL's following locations: Meriden, Hartford, Charlotte, or Wilmington.

Responsibilities

• Execution of MEP based projects to BL’s expectations for quality, schedule, and profitability
• Plan, coordinate, communicate, and facilitate the completion of tasks across multiple disciplines on projects of all sizes from conception through completion
• Coordination with external clients and subconsultants
• Participate in business development and proposal process as well as contract negotiations
• Monitor and report to department manager the status of projects, budgets, and work backlog
• Manage a team of multiple staff including designers and/or engineers, providing mentorship and ensuring billable targets are met
• Recruit, develop and retain staff in support of the company's strategic growth plan

Required Experience and Qualifications
