Job summary

Compliance Management International (CMI) is actively hiring a Construction Safety Specialist for a Ridgefield, NJ project. You will deliver hands-on safety oversight for contractors and oversee MEP-related safety tasks while enforcing OSHA 1926 standards and site procedures.

The role requires 5+ years in construction safety, MEP experience, and current OSHA 30‑hour and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required; travel is minimal.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction safety experience.
• MEP experience or direct safety oversight of mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing work.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standards.
• Current OSHA 30‑Hour Construction certification.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as project needs require.
• Reliable transportation.
• Preferred safety certifications (CHST, STS‑C, ASP, CSP, OSHA 500, NFPA 70E).

Responsibilities

• Provide daily construction safety/EHS oversight for contractors and subcontractors.
• Conduct jobsite inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and observations.
• Review JHAs/JSAs, Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), permits, toolbox talks, and safety documentation.
• Coach contractors and trades on OSHA compliance and safe work practices.
• Oversee MEP, electrical safety, NFPA 70E, LOTO, fall protection, scaffolding, confined space, hot work, excavation, cranes, rigging, and material handling.
• Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, client requirements, and site-specific safety programs.
