Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an undergraduate intern to gain hands-on experience across construction projects in the Newark area. You will work with project teams on office and job site tasks, supporting quantity take-offs, layout, surveys, submittals, RFIs, and coordination with owners and subcontractors.

You will learn and assist with estimating, value engineering, contract preparation, and project closeout activities, while attending weekly progress meetings and helping

Qualifications

• Open to undergraduate students seeking practical construction experience.
• Available for 10-12 weeks, 40 hours per week.
• Transportation required; relocation to remote sites may be needed.
• Housing may be provided in certain situations.

Responsibilities

• Learn engineering/technical aspects of projects in field and office.
• Assist with quantity take-offs, layout, surveys and log maintenance.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs and document revisions.
• Coordinate with owner, architect and subcontractors; attend progress meetings.
• Assist with bid processes, cost estimates, value engineering, and project management.
• Support with permits, scheduling updates, quality control and safety.
