Job summary

Colliers Project Leaders is hiring a MEP Commissioning Intern for Summer 2027 in New York City. You will assist with in-field reviews of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems on new builds and renovations, and help prepare field reports and analyses.

You’ll work with engineers and controls experts, review drawings, and help ensure systems are tested and functioning. Travel to NY/CT/RI/MA is required; strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering.
• Previous intern or co-op experience in commissioning, energy audits, or related engineering preferred.
• Coursework in HVAC, Plumbing, Building Electrical Systems, or Architecture preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with in-field review of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems for new construction and renovation projects.
• Work with technical staff on field observations, detailed field visit reports, and documenting issues to resolution.
• Assist with reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
• Read and review mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Ensure all systems and equipment are functionally tested.
• Confer with project managers during planning, design, and construction phases.
• Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
• Prepare analyses from collected data.
• Travel to job sites or offices in NY, CT, RI, and MA.
• Participate in robust internship programming with networking and skill-building opportunities.
